Brainstorming can be a great way for advertising, marketing, and other creative professionals to gather new ideas about a project, but no one wants to lead a brainstorming meeting that isn’t productive—especially if it’s conducted off-site. With these helpful tips, you can make the most of your off-site brainstorm and make sure you generate great ideas.
1. Set Meeting Goals Beforehand
Make sure you all attend the meeting with clear expectations. What are you hoping to accomplish? What is the timeframe in which you must accomplish this? Meeting expectations can help all attendees stay on task.
2. Brainstorm Individually Before Your Meeting
This gives those who are quieter a chance to compose their thoughts, and gives everyone points to contribute to the discussion.
3. Follow a Schedule
It’s easy to get caught up in the discussion at hand, but if you plan on addressing multiple items during your off-site meeting, following a schedule is essential. You’ll stay on track and make the most of your time out of office.
4. Take Breaks
Give people a chance to get up, get a snack, stretch their legs, and mentally take a break. Nonstop discussion can lead to burnout, but short breaks will allow attendees a chance to recharge and come back fresh and ready to brainstorm.
