Drive down the DNT and you’ll see that North Dallas has undergone a lot of changes in the last decade. There’s more housing, shopping, restaurants, and entertainment than ever, and plenty of that is just a short drive away from HeadSpace Dallas. We’ve got your updated guide to the hot spots of North Dallas (and check out our original guide for even more things to do).
Seattle’s prized coffee gem has been the stuff of caffeine addicts’ dreams for years, and you finally have the chance to try some for yourself. Located at Legacy West, the North Dallas store features more exotic reserve brews that you can’t get at your run-of-the-mill Starbucks shop. And trust us, we’ve tasted it and there is a difference!
Foodies of North Dallas are in luck. Legacy Food Hall recently opened its doors to much fanfare, and boasts 22 food stalls with everything from quesadillas to banh mi to gourmet popsicles. There are also 8 bars, and an area opening this spring for events. Now you truly don’t have to make the tough choice between burgers or tacos tonight.
If it’s a low-key time you’re after, you can’t go wrong with The Ginger Man. With a variety of beers on tap, including many local offerings, there’s a pour for every palate. Hang out on the benches outside and people watch while you sip.
A quick drive up West Park from HeadSpace brings you to Katy Trail Outpost, the little sister of the Katy Trail Ice House in Uptown. The Outpost brings the best of Katy Trail to the ‘burbs with a large outdoor patio (dog friendly, of course) and a wide selection of beers, mixed drinks, and food to choose from. Come for a post-workday happy hour and stay for the cheese fries.
For those hard-to-catch new releases, Angelika Film Center in the Shops at Legacy is your go-to spot. This upscale theater is known for its limited release indie film lineup, and they have a selection of beer, wine, and light bites to go along with your movie.
6) Shake Shack
Yes, the wait is over – Shake Shack has finally made its way to North Dallas. The New York staple has received rave reviews, and HeadSpace Dallas members can finally give their delicious burgers a try. And of course, don’t forget the shake!
It might be a little bad for your wallet, but The Shops at Willow Bend is located right down the street from HeadSpace Dallas. With stores that range from H&M to Neiman Marcus, it’s perfect for a quick lunchtime browse.
Sometimes there’s nothing that hits the spot quite like some down-home Southern cooking. Mama’s Daughter’s Diner is here to provide, loading you up with staples like homemade cornbread and rolls, chicken fried steak, and fresh pies. Come hungry because they don’t skimp on the portions!
For the more adventurous eaters, Kor-BQ provides a simplified take on Korean barbecue and enough food to keep you satisfied. Fried rice balls, kimchi fries, and bulgogi quesadillas (or “kuesadillas” as they call them) are all made to order and the casual atmosphere makes this Plano’s best-kept secret.
